William Leslie “Bill” Schaffer 89, of Moberly, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024. He was born December 13, 1934, in Moberly, to the union of William Anthony and Irene (Brooks) Schaffer.
Bill married Carol Perkins, September 11, 1954, at the North Park Baptist Church in Moberly, MO and she survives of the home, also surviving are his children, Marva Miles of Columbia, MO, Anthony “Tony” Schaffer and his husband David Greer of Kansas City, MO, 3 grandchildren, Kari Schaffer, Myles Strid and Mytchel Strid, 1 great-granddaughter Emily Freeland, other relatives, and friends
Bill was a lifelong resident of Moberly, MO, and a charter member of the North Park Baptist Church. He retired after 32 ½ years as a Postal Mail Carrier in Moberly, 29 of those years, he delivered mail in the west part of Moberly. Bill loved to visit with his patrons on his route, and his patrons always looked forward to seeing him. After retiring from the postal services, Bill worked as manager of the Prenger’s Laser Wash on N. Morley St. in Moberly for many years. He enjoyed playing basketball during his school years and played for the Greyhounds National Championship game in 1954. Bill loved all pets and had many special cats and dogs throughout his lifetime.
Memorials to the North Park Baptist Church would be appreciated.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held in the Cater Funeral Home. A Private funeral service honoring and celebrating “Bill’s” life followed graveside at the Oakland Cemetery. Committal prayer and burial followed.
