William “Bill” Orr, 83 passed away peacefully at home, Monday, September 29, 2025.
Bill was born on July 22, 1942, in Rock Springs, WY, to James William “Dub” Orr, Sr. and Thelma Lee (Moore) Orr. He moved to Moberly shortly thereafter. He married Jadeania Grimes on July 9, 1988 in Moberly, MO.
Bill was a graduate from Moberly Senior High School. He worked at AP Green Brick Co. in Mexico, MO, Peabody Coal and Associated Electric in Clifton Hill, MO and Peabody Big Sky Coal Co. in Colstrip, MT. He also lived between Liberty and Moberly, MO working with his brother, Jim, at MBPI. He had several official titles at MBPI.
He enjoyed time with family and friends. Some of his favorites were bowling, swimming, mowing his lawn with the riding mower, playing pool with his kids or the guys at Westside Inn Bar & Grill. He enjoyed watching his son shoot off fireworks and build huge bonfires for family celebrations. He loved racing the golf cart and watching the trains with graffiti go by with his best friend, Corky, and brother-in-law, Jim. He’d bring one of his children or even the grandchildren with him if they were there, too. When there was snow, Bill would pull them behind on a sled or make snow angels. He loved spending time with his family and friends: whether his brother, Jim, in Lees Summit, MO, coffee with his brother, Jerry, and the gang at Hardees in Moberly, or his friends at Waffle House in Lee Summit, MO. Bill also loved star gazing, he would look for constellations, shooting stars, and satellites for hours. His kids loved the quiet of those special nights. Bill was kind, thoughtful, and always gave encouragement to many.
He is loved by wife Jadeania “Grimes” Orr, 2 daughters: Beth Orr of Asheville, NC, Billie Van Cleve of Moberly, MO and 1 son Anthony Grimes of Colstrip, MT., 3 granddaughters: Jade & Jordyn Grimes of Great Falls, MT, Frankie Van Cleve of Moberly, MO and 1 grandson Liam “Slade” Van Cleve of Moberly, MO; 7 sister-in-laws, Linda Orr of Lee Summit, MO, Becky Orr & Elinor Tuggle, of Moberly, MO, Carole Moore of Liberty, MO, Idell St. Peter of Hayes, KS, Mary Hartgrove and husband Eddie of Madison, MO, Jamie Huffman and husband Richard, of Huntsville, MO and brother in law Norman Grimes and wife Emy of Higbee, MO, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by parents William “Dub” & Thelma “Moore” Orr, in laws James & Naomi ”Bradley” Grimes, brothers James “Jim” & Gerald “Jerry” Orr & Jay Moore, daughter Sandra “Sandy” Grimes, brother in laws James Tuggle & Bob St. Peter.
