Wayne L. Dunwoody, 61, of Moberly, was called home to Heaven on Jesus’ birthday. Wayne was praying with a fellow brother in Christ when God decided it was his time. He was a very compassionate man, always willing to help others. The family appreciates the calls, texts, and visits to offer condolences and share stories about Wayne.
Wayne and Donna were married on March 10th, 2007. They were part of 4-H and graduated from Moberly, in the same year. They were the love of each other’s lives. Wayne changed her life in ways that didn’t seem possible.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother and father, Shirley and Fred and his brother, Brian.
He is survived by his wife, Donna of Moberly, his sons, Adam and Amy Dunwoody of Fairview Heights, IL, Byron and Jessie Dunwoody of Moberly, and Jacob Ragsdale of Fairhope, AL. Also, survived by his siblings, Kent and Sarah Dunwoody of Raymore and Connie Dunwoody, of Moberly. Sisters-in-law, Nancy and Jack Sumpter of Madison, MO, and Sherrie Chirillo of Independence, MO. As well as aunts, Bonnie and Dollie Dunwoody and Wilma Farris, all of Moberly along with his nieces and nephews, many cousins, and friends.
Wayne had five grandkids that he just lit up around. You could tell they were one of his best joys in life and they are Joie Mae and Braxton Dunwoody of Moberly, Ava and Addie Dunwoody of Fairview Heights, IL, and Paxton Steele of Moberly.
Wayne was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting guns, and he loved going camping and fly fishing at Bennett Springs. He was a farmer all his life, a carpenter for many years, and in recent years a real estate agent for C21 McKeown and an active member of the Randolph County Board of Realtors.
Wayne was a member of Carpenter Street Baptist Church and also attended Redeemer Church. Previously, Wayne was a member of the Carpenter's for Christ. He was also a Gideon and passed out Bibles to many people.
Selfishly, we want him here with us, as we will miss him dearly, but his walk with the Lord, on earth, has come to an end. Until we meet again, old man.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to donate to Gideons International - Moberly Camp.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home, Funeral services honoring Wayne’s life were held the next day in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayer and burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
