Teressa Berrey, 66 of Moberly, passed away Tuesday January 21, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.
In her younger years she married several times, which blessed her with 3 children. You could find her spending time with her children, playing pool, swimming, bowling, playing cards, cruising downtown, driving country roads, blasting her stereo singing out loud, chattering with her friends. Our family spent many summer nights at the ball fields, bowling alley, watching mud runs. Once she grew older and started falling in ill health, you could still find her spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Whether she threw on some boxing gloves, watched the Cheer, rode around listening to music or just enjoying a good conversation. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch drinking a cup of coffee, talking to and feeding the squirrels.
She fell terminally ill 2 ½ years ago with 2 different types of lung cancer. She was determined not to let it control her life. What a feisty, strong-willed, determined and motivated individual she was. Even though each day that came and went she never gave up, but you could see the toll it had taken on her. On her better days she wanted sleepovers with her children, siblings, and grandchildren. We often took her to Texas Roadhouse, Don’s, and Golden Corral. She enjoyed eating a delicious ribeye, baked potato and salad, chicken and dumplings, homemade chicken noodle soup, cheesy bacon potato soup, salmon patties, hot fudge sundaes, banana splits, A LOT of pumpkin pie and an ice-cold bottle of Double Cola.
The last year or so of her life, she requested to go to the casino. She loved the game “Rich Little Piggy”. We took her many times, but one time the 2 daughters made her face fall priceless as we surprised her when we told her we were taking her. She was so excited and had such a great time. Remembering her comment, and the laugh when she said well they lied, “the Rich Little Pigs” didn’t make me rich.
The last several months she had with us, she declined rather quickly. Against all odds she still hung on and wanted to get out of the house.
We all had many sleepless nights, sore muscles, and just exhausted, we would never complain, we knew we were blessed she was still with us just one more day. We will always remember the love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends. She had a contagious laugh, her heart was huge, she loved deeply all the conversations and memories that were made.
Today we are sharing some of our memories with you and in return we ask that you share some of yours with us. Listen closely, some of these memories include you!
