Steven Wayne “Steve” Crosswhite,71, of Moberly, passed away peacefully Saturday January 29, 2022, with his family by his side. He was born in Moberly, November 8,1950, to the late Rube and Corenne (Crotty) Crosswhite.
Steve attended Moberly Public Schools, Graduated Class of 1968 and Moberly Junior College. Following his education, he entered the U.S. Army in April 1970 and proudly served his country from 1970-1973, prior to receiving his honorable discharge. He was particularly proud to be a part of the 82nd Airborne Division, 307th Engineer Battalion at Fort Bragg, NC. In June of 1971, he married the love of his life, Sharon Kay Everhart, in Moberly. During those military years, they made their home in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where they made lifelong friends. After returning to Moberly, he worked for the Norfolk & Western Railway, Wick Homes and the Missouri Dept of Corrections, and retired from the Missouri Vocational Enterprises in 2007 after 28 years (Service Manager II, Laundry Vocation). He also owned and ran Contractor’s Seamless Guttering for many years.
Steve loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed and was quite an excellent bbq cook. He belonged to the Kansas City Barbecue Society for several years entering many competitions with his family. He judged the American Royal BBQ and spent many hours at his “Tucker Grill”; his specialty babyback ribs. Steve was an avid sports fan, most notably when it came to his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sharon, his sons Brian Crosswhite (Teri) and Sean Crosswhite (Brianne) as well as his seven grandchildren (Chandler, Nicholas, Jaxson, Rowan, John, Jaiden and Quinton), Sister, Bonnee Griggs (Conrad) and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-law’s and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the Veterans Community Project in honor of Steve would be appreciated.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family during a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral Services honoring and celebrating Steve’s life were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Military honors, Committal words and prayer and burial followed at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
