Steven Dorrell

Steven Dorrell, 76, of Clarence, formerly of Moberly, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023.  He was born March 6, 1947 to the union of the late Andrew and Loraine (Sikler) Dorrell at Harvey, IL.

He married Carol Sue Krass, November 28, 1997, in Hallsville, Mo. and she preceded him in death April 30, 2022. 

Steven grew up in Chicago, where he loved going to White Sox baseball games and eating pizza during his youth.  He and his best friend enlisted in the military right after high school.  He served 3 years 7 months in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Sargent with the Security Police.  He served during the Vietnam War, 1967-1968.  After he was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, he returned to the Chicago area.  In 1995 he moved to Hallsville, MO to be closer to family, and began a decade of working for the Truman Veterans Hospital.  In April of 2005, when he retired he moved to Moberly, MO.

Survivors include a cousin, Joy Martinez, good friend Larry Ditmer, other relatives and friends.

Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation, Monday, March 13, 2023, 11am – 12pm, in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services honoring Steven’s life and military honors will follow at 12 noon. Private committal prayer and burial will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
