Steve C. Bledsoe, a lifelong resident of Moberly, Missouri, passed away on July 19, 2025, at the age of 74.
Steve spent the early years of his career in construction before dedicating his life to public service. In 1982, he helped establish the Eastern Randolph County Fire Department, where he served as a volunteer and later as Fire Chief. In 1988, he joined the Randolph County Ambulance Service, earning his EMT license in 1990. Steve was also a member of the Randolph County Dive Team, earning certifications in Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Search & Recovery (1990), and Rescue Diving (1993). He served his community with pride until his retirement in 2019.
Steve was a longtime member of Union Avenue Christian Church and later attended Zion Lutheran Church. He was best known for his quick wit and love of jokes—always eager to make those around him smile. One of his greatest pleasures, during both his working years and retirement, was mowing lawns, which he found peaceful and fulfilling.
Steve is survived by his three daughters; two sons-in-law; one grandson and his wife; one granddaughter and her husband; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; two sisters; one brother; the mother of his children; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters and his parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s honor to the Eastern Randolph County Fire Department.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held Friday, August 8, 2025, 11 am - 1 pm, at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a service honoring and celebrating Steve’s life at 1pm. A private Committal prayer and burial took place at the Oakland Cemetery.
