Shirley Mae Tillinger, 87, of Paris, MO, formerly of Sturgeon, MO, passed away, April 10, 2026 at Monroe Manor in Paris.
Shirley was born February 3, 1939 to William and Elizabeth (Vohsen) Hollenberg in Chesterfield, MO. She attended a one room school house and later attended Eureka High School. Shirley worked at various jobs doing bookwork, including Mack Truck. In later years, she worked as a senior teller for Boone County National Bank, which she loved very much.
On August 9, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to Frederick Tillinger. She became a step-mother to Fred’s three children; Dawn, Scott and Roy. In their union, a daughter, Stephanie, was born. Shirley was a partner with Fred on their family farm and you would often find her discing the ground.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Bill) Kanour of Ottumwa, IA, her sons, Scott (Suzanne) Tillinger of Harrisburg, MO, and Roy (Dyana) Tillinger of Wisconsin Dells, WI; eight grandchildren, Shayla (Alex) Huffman, Blair (Trenton Sheets) and Emmett Holohan, Meghan (Bryan) Bethe, Emily (Casey Klingenmeyer, fiancé), Ean, Gracie, and Sammy Tillinger; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Lane, Magnolia, and Tobias Bethe, one great-grandchild on the way, Rosemary; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Tillinger; her parents, William and Elizabeth Hollenberg; her brother, Donald Hollenberg; a daughter, Dawn Tillinger; and a granddaughter, Olivia Tillinger.
You could always find Shirley in the kitchen cooking up something good for dinner or baking a sweet treat. She was famous for her Christmas cookies and coffee cake with the red and green cherries which she would generously give around Christmas time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion Lutheran Church of Moberly.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held, at the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Mrs. Tillinger’s life were held at the Zion Lutheran Church, Moberly. Committal prayer and burial took place at Mt. Horeb Cemetery, Sturgeon.
