Obituary

Sheryl Ann Hungerford, 64 of Cairo passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 with her family by her side. She was born April 29, 1956 in Moberly to the union of Lewis H. and Nancy Ann (Sheldon) Vaughan.

Sheryl Ann was a doer. She loved God and family. Born in Moberly, and raised on the farm.  She was never tired of being in nature with freedom to roam and explore. Sheryl was a thinker, one who could solve any problem through her keen intellect and unmatched work ethic. Sheryl was driven by a passion to share her love. She always had a camera and could frame a picture of any subject. Many were of her travels, but her favorites were those of her family. A lifelong learner, she achieved a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and a Master’s in Industrial Vocational Technology Education from Central Missouri University. She later trained in Aviation Technology at Vincennes University. She excelled in everything she tried. Sheryl’s life was surrounded by loving relationships, with her parents Lewis and Nancy, siblings Steve and Denise, pets Ringo, Cleo and Rocky. Her friendship with Carol Tipton extended more than 50 years. She was so proud of her children Tiffany, Joshua, Kathy and Mike. She was blessed in marriage to her best friend and soulmate- Gary. Sheryl’s smile never failed to light up the room. Her motto was “Let go and Let God”. She would not say goodbye, but “goodbye for now”. She knew with her full heart that we will all be together again soon.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her father.

Services honoring Sheryl’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Words of comfort and support were shared with the family during a visitation that preceded the service. Private committal prayer and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at a later date.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
