Shakyra Sargent

Shakyra AKA Krya Sargent, 21, of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023.  She was born, March 14, 2002, in Moberly, to the union of Lamont and Charmain (Money) Sargent.

Kyra loved music and to sing, she had a beautiful voice.  Krya was an amazing cook.  She had many struggles since childhood. Kyra met them head on and never complained.  Kyra was independent and strong, also stubborn and sassy.  Kyra was a fighter.  She loved her family with both her big hearts.  She never let her transplant define who she was.  Kyra had a smile that lit up every room she walked into….She lived her life to the fullest on her own terms.  Kyra never gave up.

Larry and Shakyra were expecting their first child.  They were very excited, they had started making plans.  They had picked a name for Baby Melancon.  The name means “Remember I love you”. J’rily will be laid to rest with Shakyra.

Kyra is survived by her husband, Larry, her  mother, Charmain Sargent, her dad, Terrele Midgyett, bonus dad, Troy Roberts , Bonus mom, Pauline, brothers and sisters, Jordan Fugate, Layla Money, Destiny Dysart, Damontre, Kobi, JaLisa, Lamonica, KaKa,Tionja, bonus siblings, Dashanti Cathey, Tranna Nash, James Hughes, Anaiyaha Williams, Messiah Nash, and Leah Bold, Grandparents, Travis and Angielee Guyton, Maxine Sargent, Lillie Ford, Tim and Kim Fugate, Francene Midgyett, aunts and uncles, Charles and Rosemary Money Danny Humphrey, Treca Money, Porche Midgyett, Thel Sargent Jr., Jennifer, Christina, Keyna, Melissa Watkins, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Kyra was preceded in death by LaVern Moore, LaMont Sargent and Julean Evans.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, and funeral services honoring and celebrating Shakyra’s life followed.
