Robert James Johnson, 58, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 27 at Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born and raised in Moberly, November 21, 1966. Robert graduated from Moberly High School in 1986 and later earned his Associate of General Studies degree from MACC in 1997. A lifelong learner, he had a deep love for history and could always be found with a book in hand or a story on his lips.
Robert’s greatest joy in life was his family. Though he had no children of his own, he was a steady, loving father figure to his nieces and nephews — a guiding presence whose warmth, humor, and wisdom left a lasting mark. He enjoyed fishing on quiet mornings, listening to the sound of a good rainstorm, settling in for a spooky movie and savoring the simple pleasures of life — especially a well-timed nap.
He is survived by his sister Edenia Wisdom and her children Deanna, Audrea, and Alexander (and their children); his brother Glendale Johnson and his children April, Erica, and Dale (and their children); as well as many aunts, uncles, and extended family members who loved him dearly.
Robert will be remembered for his gentle heart, his sharp wit and the way he made others feel seen, heard and loved — often with nothing more than a well-told tale and a warm smile.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with final expenses.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by Funeral Services honoring and celebrating Robert James's life. Committal prayer and internment took place at the Hager Cemetery.
