Obituary

Robert N. Crutcher, 89, of Moberly, passed away Friday, September 03, 2021. He was born March 07, 1932 in Cairo, Missouri to Loyd and Opal (Halterman) Crutcher.

He married Gloria Mae Sims on January 03, 1958, at the Coates Street Presbyterian Church in Moberly, Missouri.

Robert was preceded in death by an infant son Ward Crutcher, his parents, his brother and sister-in-law David and Rose Crutcher and brother-in-law, Floyd Brown.

He is survived by his wife Gloria of the home, also surviving are his seven children, Byron (Michelle) Crutcher of Moberly MO, Phillip Crutcher of Kansas City MO, Stephanie Crutcher of Columbia MO, Stuart (Liz) Crutcher of Moberly MO, Dane (Debie) Crutcher of Rolla MO, Jeffrey (Cathy) Crutcher of St. Catharine, MO, and Michelle (Ted) Fletcher of Columbia, MO, eighteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister Margaret Brown of Kansas City, brothers Charles (Roberta) Crutcher and Earl Crutcher both of Moberly, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends.

As a high school athlete Robert participated in track, baseball and played on the last undefeated basketball team in Moberly. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War prior to his honorable discharge. After which, he returned to Moberly and worked with his father at the Crutcher/McCormick Dairy and eventually took over the dairy from his father. After closing down the dairy in 1976, he began a 20-year career with Dupont at their plant in Moberly and retired from their Fort Madison, Iowa plant in 1997. He was a charter member of the Union Avenue Christian Church which is now known as the Timber Lake Christian Church. He served as a deacon and spent several years as the assistant coach of the church's baseball team.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by Services honoring Robert’s life ending with military honors. Private committal prayer and burial took place at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
