Obituary

Robert L Canaday, 72 of Moberly passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He was born April 3, 1950 in Hannibal to the union of Luther and Lillian (Bradley) Canaday. 

He married the love of his life, Rose Gravitt, April 19, 1968. Robert worked for Huberts garage for many years.  He eventually went on to open his own mechanic shop where he later retired.

 Anyone that knew Robert knew he had a love for tinkering with motors , cars or simply just loved being in the ‘shop’. He also loved camping, going to flywheels, boating, and fishing with his son. Robert loved to dance as well and he was well known for being good at it.

He always could be known for being a snack meister. Some of his all-time favorites were Pepsi, Fritos, and snack cake.

Robert was a fun person to be around and loved all his family.

Survivors include his son; Rob and his wife Candis Canaday of Moberly, five grandchildren; Deavon(Taylor) Canaday, Justin Canaday, Zoe Ridgeway, Kevin Lee(Amber) Ridgeway and Ashley(Shawn) Bensley, a brother Jimmy Canaday, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, daughter; Tina Ridgeway, his parents, brothers, Glen, Donnie Eugene and Herbie Cannaday, sisters; Brenda Canaday and Kay Hubert, uncles and aunts.  


Funeral services honoring and celebrating Robert’s life were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel.  Committal prayer and burial followed at the Oakland Cemetery.  Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held prior to the services.
