Obituary

Robert  Lloyd “Bob” Briscoe, 94, of Moberly passed away, Thursday, January 23, 2025.  He was born, January 3, 1931, in Moberly, to the union of Robert and Artie (Barnett) Briscoe.

Bob lived in Moberly his whole life.  He was baptized at the age of 9 by Rev. George Cable at Sweet Springs Baptist Church.  He married Mary Sue Turner on September 23, 1950, in Moberly.    He went to work bottling milk, making cheese and as a delivery driver for Christman Dairy, then he went to Norfolk and Southern Railroad as a brakeman, a carman, and laborer at the roundhouse.  After he retired from the RR he went on to Orscheln Farm and Home as a seasonal gardener.

He was a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge #344, The Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons and Grand Commander of Knights Templar.

Bob loved to travel doing bus tours, camping, bluegrass music, Branson, gardening and hunting.

He is survived by his children, Glenda Prather and her husband Bill, of Cairo, Bob Briscoe and his wife Robin, John Briscoe and his wife Betty, all of Moberly, 13 grandchildren, Paul Prather, Kimmy Bailey, Tessa Rivera, Becky Riles, James Burton, Shawn Burton, Tommy Prather, Tracy Carney, Ben Briscoe, John Briscoe, Sam Briscoe, Jesse Briscoe, Kyle Briscoe and Cody Briscoe, 25 Great grandchildren, 20 Great great grandchildren with 2 on the way, 2 sisters, Judy James and her husband Bill, of Moberly, and Jane Howard of Middle Grove, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, parents, daughter, Linda Kay Burton, a grandson, Eric Prather, brother, Carl Briscoe, son-in-law, Steve Burton, and in-laws, Clarence and Elvira Turner.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation, held  at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, Masonic Funeral services honoring and celebrating Bob’s life followed.  Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
