Reatha Bernice Baker, 82, of Moberly, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2021. She was born January 11, 1939 to James and Laura Lee (McCormick) Hendrix.
Soon after graduating High School she married Donald Lee Baker, October 20, 1957, in Moberly and he preceded her in death June 28, 2017. Also preceding her in death were her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Heddinghaus and her husband Larry of rural Moberly, five grandchildren; April D. Young and her husband Jimmie, Elizabeth Headington, Joseph M. Leta, Clare Wootten, and Max Wootten, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Reatha lived as a child in Renick, MO and moved to Moberly where she remained a resident. She lived and died in the same home she had lived with her husband of almost 60 years. Reatha loved to plant garden vegetables and flowers and raise sheep. There were many times she would raise lambs from the bottle and enjoyed seeing them grow up to have babies of their own. She and Donald never knew a stranger. People were always welcomed and they never left with an empty stomach. Cooking good food was always important to her and she always wanted everyone to feel at home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family during the visitation at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Services honoring Reatha’s life followed the visitation. Committal prayer and burial was held in the Oakland Cemetery.
