Obituary

Raymond E. “Brother Ray” Yancey Jr., 67, of Moberly, MO, passed away at 4:34 pm Monday, January 27, 2025.

Raymond was born, July 14, 1957, in Moberly, MO as the eldest son of Raymond Eugene Yancey Sr. and Betty (Arthur) Yancey.

Raymond had a warm spirit and a kind heart, always willing to lend a hand to anyone he knew that needed one. He thoroughly loved people, his children, and living life to the fullest. Raymond was able to use this passion for others professionally, serving the community as a fantastic cook and expert car detailer for many years. His deep voice and infectious smile will be missed around town, at Bingo, and by the many, many people who held him dear.  He played poker and loved to go fishing.

He is survived by the love of his life for 18 years, Lisa Kaye McAlpin, sons Jacoby, Darius, and Raymond Maurice Cason, daughters Alize, LaQuanna McNeil, and Angelica President, brothers Larry and his wife, Mary and Terry Yancey and his wife Charlene”Charlie”,  a sister Diana Kay Yancey, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia (Yancey) Williams.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation, held  at Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a funeral service honoring and celebrating Ray’s life. A private committal prayer and burial will be held at a later date.
