Obituary

Randy Lee Harris was born April 21st, 1955, in Moberly, Missouri, the son of Donna and Earl Harris. He attended Second Baptist Church and graduated from Moberly Public Schools. Randy went on to earn his Associate’s Degree from Moberly Community College in 1975 and his Bachelor of Science from Truman State University in 1977.

Randy began his professional career in marketing with Shelter Insurance (1977–1979) before dedicating 30 years of service as a Journeyman Mechanic at Associated Electric (1980–2010). After retiring, he continued to serve his community by working within Moberly Public Schools until 2017, when he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Through unwavering strength and faith, Randy fought a courageous battle, achieving remission for several years. Randy passed away peacefully on Friday, July 11, 2025, surrounded by love and family.

Though a man of few words, Randy’s presence spoke volumes. He was known for his quiet strength, practical wisdom, and kind, gentle spirit. A lover of the outdoors, Randy found joy in hunting and fishing. He was also an avid runner who completed marathons across the country—from the scenic landscapes of Hawaii to the challenging Heart of America Marathon in Columbia, Missouri.

Randy is survived by his beloved sister, Paula Sue Harris; his aunt and uncle, Susie and Rob Cason; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins, including: Erica Fleming, Greg Newby, Joseph Newby, Kim Newby, Star Letta Cathcart, Tilly Mitchell, David Clayborne-Harris, Denis Clayborne-Harris and Candace Harris and cousins Regina Cason-Collins (Steffon, Ashley, and Abbey), Phillip Cason (Cassia), Vanessa Burgess, Andrea Davis, Jerome Burgess, Kevin Williams, Connie Williams, Kevin Burgess, Jeffrey Burgess, Dana Grant-Knoll, Tammy Ashford, and Sylvia Denise Ashford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donna and Earl Harris; his brothers Richard Harris, Robin Harris, and Dennis Harris; and his sisters Stephanie Gooch and Rachel Fleming.

Condolences may be sent to Susie and Rob Cason, who have lovingly stood by Randy throughout his journey.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Randy’s memory by spending time in nature—fishing, walking, or simply enjoying nature that he so deeply appreciated.
