Paulette Elaine Curtis, lovingly known as “Granny,” a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at her home, April 2, 2026, at the age of 80.
She was born at home in the back bedroom, August 4, 1945, in Canalou, Missouri, to Wes Virginia and Hubert Bond. As a child, she picked cotton—something she would later laugh about and admit she did not enjoy. Even at a young age, Granny knew exactly what she wanted in life. In the 8th grade, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she proudly stood and said, “I’m gonna marry that boy sittin’ right back there—Jerry Dale Curtis. I sure am!”
On October 12, 1963, she married the love of her life, Jerry Dale Curtis. Together they built a beautiful life, moving to St. Charles where Jerry worked at McDonnell Douglas, and later settling in O’Fallon, Missouri, where they spent 36 years raising their daughter. In 1966, they welcomed their daughter, Dana, who brought her endless pride and joy. She was overjoyed to welcome her son-in-law, Phil, into the family, and absolutely thrilled when her granddaughter was born. In 2003, they moved to Clark, Missouri to be closer to family.
Granny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved flea markets, Goodwill, and garage sales, always searching for treasures—especially dolls and carnival glass. She adored anything that glittered and shined, especially gold. She enjoyed traveling in their RV with Jerry, visiting casinos across the country, and in later years became a regular at the Isle of Capri in Boonville.
She loved to sing and dance and carried that joyful spirit throughout her life. Granny never missed a moment when it came to her family—attending every school event, bake sale, choir and band performance, and basketball game, proudly cheering the loudest for #44. She celebrated every birthday and began planning Christmas, with all its decorations and joy, as early as July.
More than anything, Granny cherished her family. She was incredibly proud of her daughter, Dana Orf (Phil), and her granddaughter, Camyron Asher (Trenton), and loved being surrounded by them and the many dear friends she made in Clark, Missouri. She never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wes Virginia and Hubert Bond; her brother, Butch Bond; and her beloved husband, Jerry Curtis.
Granny will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her warmth, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to those who visited and spent time with Granny, as well as her friends and caregivers from St. Croix Hospice—Devin, Tiffany, Misty, and Antoinette—whose kindness, compassion, and presence brought her comfort and happiness.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held, at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by Funeral services honoring Mrs. Curtis’s life. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Chapel Grove Cemetery, Clark, Missouri.
