Melissa Sue (Garrelts) Long, 44, of Alpaugh, CA, formerly of Moberly, passed away unexpectedly January 29, 2024.
She was born in Moberly, Missouri, September 17, 1979. She spent the majority of her life in Mid-Missouri prior to relocating to Alpaugh, California in 2021.
Melissa is survived by her parents, Christopher Garrelts of Crane, Missouri and Betty Ashby (Dennis) Martin of Carthage, Missouri, two children, Hope Garrelts and Journey Olsen, three brothers, Michael (Katie) Walstead of Sedalia, Daniel (Asha) Garrelts of Stockton, and Jonas Johnson all of California, two sisters, Dianna and Brandi Walstead of Oregon, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Melissa was best known for how strongly she loved. She did not know a stranger and would give all she had to anyone in need. She faced any life struggle head on and with a fierceness that is unrivaled. Melissa enjoyed gardening, diamond art, and spoiling her Boston Terriers.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Ascend Domestic Advocacy, 1304 Seattle Slew Blvd., Columbia, Mo. 63034.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Services honoring and celebrating Melissa’s life followed. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Bethel Cemetery, Holiday Mo.
