Obituary

Maxine Marie (Dossey) Cochran, 93, of Cairo, MO passed away at home on Friday, October 30th.  Maxine was born on January 15, 1927 in Moberly, MO, the second daughter of Willie Ober “Obe” and Susie (Edwards) Dossey, and she lived in the Cairo area her entire life where she and her husband, Dave, raised their three sons.

Maxine married her high school sweetheart, David McLean “Dave” Cochran on July 14th, 1946 in Moberly.  They were married 66 years before Dave passed away September 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Floriene Boswell.  Maxine and her husband Dave owned and operated Cairo Equipment Company, an Allis-Chalmers implement store, in Cairo for 44 years retiring in 1994. This was their business venture together after Dave lost his left arm in a farming accident in September 1950.  Maxine hired many area kids to work at the “shop”, giving many their first job.  Maxine and Dave were featured in the “Senior Life” edition of Moberly Monitor-Index in July 2012 and were proud to announce, “We work together, and we play together”.  After retirement, Maxine and Dave enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona for several years.  Maxine was an excellent quilter, cook, and gardener.  Maxine was a lifelong Cairo Bearcat, Moberly Greyhound, Missouri Tiger, and St. Louis Cardinal fan.  She was always interested in learning about new technology, and used her computer and engaged in social media daily until most recently. 

 Maxine is survived by her sons, David Eugene “David E.” and his wife Michelle of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jerrold Lee “Jerry” and his wife Jennie of Cole Camp, MO, and Johnny Obe “John” and his wife Della of Moberly, 11 grandchildren:  Leslie (Cochran) Erd, Rob Bratcher and his wife Michelle, Amy Cochran, Megan (Cochran) Keicher and her husband Brian, Jeff Cochran and his wife Angie, Jason Cochran, Julie (Cochran) Proskocil and her husband Randy, Libby Cochran, Brett Cochran, Cassie (Cochran) Krieger and her husband Joey, McLean Cochran, 20 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Deedie (Cochran) Esry. 

Maxine was a member of Cairo Baptist Church, Eastern Star, and VFW Auxiliary.

The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Cairo Baptist Church.    

Funeral services honoring Maxine's life were held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  Committal prayer and burial followed.
