Obituary

Matthew Steven Marek, 19, of Moberly, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021. He was born November 11, 2001 in Moberly to Steve and Sandra (Barton) Marek.

He is survived by his father Steve Marek and his wife Gina, mother Sandra Machetta and her husband Tony, sister Kelly Marek, step siblings; Ben Wolverton, Justin Wolverton, Lynsie Dailey, and Carson Heath, grandparents Bill and Carol Marek, grandmother Maxine Barton, girlfriend Allison Guffey, aunts and uncles; Brent and Mendy Fuemmeler, Darin and Jeri Marek (godparents), Amy Marek, Chris and Libbie Adam, Greg and Ruth Barton, Bob and Tina Gardner, cousins; Samantha Shannon, Nathan Fuemmeler, Autumn Fuemmeler, Elizabeth Adam, Caroline Adam, Kelsey Marek, Sidney Marek, Halley Marek, Jaclyn Dias, and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather Richard Barton and an aunt Kimberly Marek Adam.

Throughout high school Matthew was involved in soccer, tennis, and was in the National Honor Society. He graduated from St. Pius X grade school in 2016. He graduated from Moberly High School in 2020. He worked at PEPCO, L&B Car Wash, Mid Way Arms, and Cutco Sales. Matthew was attending the University of Missouri majoring in History and Pre Law and was a member of Mizzou’s Honors College.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Pius X  school or MASA soccer.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family during the visitation at the St. Pius X Church. A Mass of Christian Burial followed.   Private committal prayer and burial took place at a later date.
