Mary Louise Updegraff 87, of Moberly, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022. She was born to the union of William Ralph and Dorothy Murphy June 8, 1935, in Gentry, Mo.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Gumm, of Moberly, Mo. and a son Charles W. Updegraff, of Albany, Mo., 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother Bill Murphy of Gentry, Mo., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, by 2 brothers Bob and George Murphy and a sister Lois Jean Stolee.
She loved spending time with her favorite niece Janet Gillett May. Mary worked for Yellow Transit, then became a stay at home mom. She lived in Bethany, Mo., and then moved to Moberly, Mo., to be closer to her family. Mary was a member of the Baptist Church and the Women’s Auxiliary Club. She loved working with flowers and gardening. Mary had the biggest heart and met no strangers. She was a great cook, loved music, dancing and going fishing: but most all she loved to spend time at her daughter’s house playing with the dogs. She will truly be missed.
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 1:30-2:30 pm at Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Services celebrating and honoring Mary’s life will follow at 2:30 pm. Committal prayer and burial will take place at the Memorial Park.
