Mary Burton, 101, of Moberly, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born August 9, 1924 in Des Moines, IA to the union of the late Ray and Artie (Kitchen) Law.
Mary is survived by her children Linda Filban, Lester Dale and wife Sheryl, Lawrence Dale and a stepson Michael Burton; 17 grandchildren, Mary (Ed) Kelly, Terri (Cleeton) Humphrey, Charles (Taryn) Dale, Johnna White, Jana (Jim) Hawkins, James Allen, Stephanie (Shane) Filban, Kayla (Matt) Filban, Dawn Ann (Charles) Grogan, Paul Dale, Clinton (Danielle) Dale, Daniel (Natalie) Dale, Katie (Justin) Canaday, Lawrence Paul (Jesse) Dale, Cassandra (Jon) Robinson, Shelby (Matt) Schondelmeyer, Isaiah (Liz) Dale; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Leonard, 2 step sons Steve Burton and Billy Burton, husband Leonard Paul Dale (1970) and second husband Bill Burton (1978), her parents, a brother, Charles Law and 2 sisters, Leota Page and Naomi Mettes.
Mary belonged to ABWA, T.O.P.S., the Busy Hour Club, volunteer at the Senior Center and was an avid bowler at Community Lanes. She loved playing cards and bingo. Spending time with her family was the highlight of her life. Anytime people were over at her house she took plenty of pictures!!!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Park Baptist Church general fund.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Ms. Burton’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
