Marjorie Francis Chism

The family and friends of Marjorie Francis Chism are grieved to announce that she left this world on July 10, 2025.  We also rejoice that she is at peace with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Marjorie was born to Herbert Bryant Crose and Mamie Ruth (Maupin) Crose June 22, 1937 in Moberly.  She grew up in Moberly with her parents and her brother Robert Crose.  She graduated from Moberly High School in 1955 and married her husband of 68 years, Ellis Chism on April 17, 1957, and he survives.

Ellis and Marjorie built a life together with resolve and love, and had two children: Cindy Calvert (Larry) and Cathy Galland (Mark).  Marjorie worked as a Magistrate Clerk in the Randolph County Courthouse for 32 years.  She loved her job and her co-workers and shared many stories of her time there throughout her life. 

She was active in the Randolph County Saddle Club for over 20 years.  Her loved ones cling to fond memories of trail rides and vacations, card games and meals, conversations filled with laughter and stories repeated through the years.

She was a faithful attender of school functions and ball games for her children, and later her grandchildren.  She welcomed new family and friends like old family and friends, as though she had known and loved them always.  

She loved Jesus and is with Him now.  She served God at Carpenter Street Baptist Church for 85 years, and most recently at First Christian Church of Moberly.  

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marian Crose, and her Sister-in-law Sandi Crose.  She is survived by her brother Bob Crose, daughters Cindy and Cathy, her grandchildren: Aaron Hartz and Adam Hartz, 4 step grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  

Visitation was held at Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services  were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel.  Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
