Margaret Ann Schafer, 85, of Moberly, went to heaven, Tuesday July 2, 2024.
She was born in St. Joseph, MO to the union of Ralph and Ruie Pearl Burcham. She married Robert W Schafer in 1958 and moved to Kansas City at that time. From this union of 65 years she became the mother of three daughters, Cynthia Ann Woollard (Grayson), Carolyn Ann Bunch (Robert) and Catherine Ann Walker (Larry). She was the grandmother of six; Stuart, Andy, Jared, Nathan, Alisha and Justin. The light of her life was her great-granddaughter, Bailey. She loved her extended family as well which includes sister-in-law Betty, brother-in-law Roger, nieces and nephews David, Michael, Kari, Tommy, Brian, Amy and Mandi and Burcham cousins. Margaret was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Marilyn Dunn and brothers-in-law Kenneth Dunn and Melvin Thomas Schafer, II.
The Schafers moved to Moberly in 1973. Shortly thereafter, Margaret started working at the Madden Law Firm as a paralegal. The Maddens became like family. She met so many people by working there and treated each one with kindness and respect.
She was a devout Christian and loved her church family at Coates Street Presbyterian where she volunteered in the choir, Sunday School and wherever she was needed. She was known for always having a song in her heart, "There's a song for every occasion but no singing at the dinner table."
Margaret and Bob moved to Meadow Ridge Estates in 2023 and found a whole community of friends who care deeply about one another. As a result, she was able to live her best life. The family thanks the Meadow Ridge staff for their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Coates St. Presbyterian Church, 601 W Coates Street, Moberly MO 65270 or Meadow Ridge Estates, Pond Dock Fund, 521 Meadow Ridge Lane, Moberly MO 65270.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Margaret’s life, Thursday July 11, 2024, 11:30 a.m. at Coates Street Presbyterian Church and a fried chicken lunch at 12:30 at Meadow Ridge Estates. Committal will be at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville at a later time.
