Margaret LaJean Fugate, 92, of Chicago formerly of Moberly, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at her home. She had been in failing health. Margaret was born December 3, 1931 in Brunswick, Mo. to Harry W. and Ruth A. (Cooper) Robinson.
She attended Moberly Public School and then the former Lincoln School.
Margaret worked for the United States Postal Service for over 30 years. She loved traveling and going to the casino. Margaret was well respected and admired by all who knew her for her generosity and compassion for others. She was a member of the Eastern Star Silone Chapter of Moberly.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Edgar Fugate, Jr., her parents, grandmother, sisters Willa Mae Walker, Mary Evelyn Brown, Charlotte Ganaway, Brenda Ganaway, and a brother Jerry Williams, 2 aunts, Bertha Davis and Hazel Sutherland, 6 brother in laws, and 2 sister in laws.
Survivors include her daughter, Sedell Mitchell Reynolds and her husband Charles, of Chicago, granddaughter Melissa Mitchell, great grandson Tray Shawn Mitchell, both of Chicago. Sister Connie Cravens of Moberly, special niece Gloria Pugh, special nephew Vernell Rivera and his wife Shawana Kea of Chicago, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Words of comfort were shared with the family at a visitation, held in the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring Margaret’s life was held at the 2nd Baptist Church, Moberly, Mo., the next morning. Committal prayer and burial followed at the Oakland Cemetery, Moberly, Mo.
