Obituary

Opal “Margaret” Brown, 95, of Kansas City, formerly of Moberly, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Benton House with family by her side.  She was born in Cairo, MO. on January 4, 1928 to Lloyd Elliot and Opal (Halterman) Crutcher.  On September 26, 1947, Margaret married Floyd W. “Jack” Brown in Moberly, MO. and spent 50 memorable years together.

She worked for Faessler Tool Co. from 1955-1959, she then began her career working for Social Security as a service representative until her retirement.  She then worked part time at Bank of Cairo-Moberly for a few years.  Her family was the center of her universe and spending birthdays, holidays, sporting events and anytime she could with them always taking pictures.  In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, humming bird watching and spending time on or around bodies of water.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, great granddaughter, Kendall Brown, great grandson, Jamison Brown, her brothers and sisters in law David and Rose Crutcher and Robert and Gloria Crutcher, her nephews Greg Crutcher and Ward Crutcher.

Survivors include her children, David Brown and his wife Joyce of Kirksville, MO., Ronnie Brown and his wife Pat of Kansas City, MO., and Sue McCarty and her husband Lloyd of Kansas City, MO., grandchildren Roger Brown and his wife Lisa of Austin, TX., Kenny Brown and his wife Crystal of Carthage, MO., Chris Brown and his wife Jamie of St. Charles, MO., Jason Brown and his significant other Jennifer, Tobey Cunitz and her husband Nick, Jared Brown all of Kansas City, MO., Paul McCarty and his wife Ashleigh of Kansas City, MO. step grandchildren Doreen Culver of Kansas City, MO.,  Pauline Elliott and her husband Jerry of Lee’s Summit, MO., Ray McCarty and his wife Amber of Oak Grove, MO., great grandchildren, Catherine and Cameron Brown of Austin, TX., Morgan Brown of Carthage, MO., Noah and Julia Brown of St. Charles, MO., Erin Brown of Kansas City, MO., and Emilia, Henry and Grace McCarty of Kansas City, MO.,  brothers Charles Crutcher and his wife Roberta and Earl Crutcher all of Moberly, MO., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by Funeral services honoring Margaret’s life.  Committal prayer and burial took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.
