Louis Luntsford, 89, of Hallsville, formally of Cario, passed away, Friday, May 2, 2025. He was born March 31,1936 in Cairo, MO to Alex and Beatrice (Moore) Luntsford
Louis proudly served 21 years in the United States Army before receiving an honorable discharge. After leaving the military, he went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections and worked 15 years as a Corrections Officer at the Moberly Correctional Center. Louis loved the outdoors, and this is one of the reasons he loved to farm and did so for many years in Ash, MO. In his later years one of his favorite things to do, was to sit and watch his favorite TV series, Gunsmoke.
On September 10th, 2015, Louis married Florence North, and she survives of the home, also surviving are his children George H. Luntsford and his wife Rita of Renick, MO, Gloria A. Swan and her husband Jimmie of Brunswick, MO, Danny G. Luntsford and his wife Tommie of Cairo, MO, Tammy L. Parker and her husband Leonard of Madison, MO, Patricia A. Bell and her husband George of Moberly, MO and Pamela Luntsford of Madison, MO, , Robert W. Luntsford and wife Tammy, of Ash two step-children Bradley North and his wife Julie of Cleveland, GA and Kimberley Ballard of Hallsville, MO, two brothers, Paul Luntsford of Cairo, MO and Bennie G. Luntsford and his wife Sara of Madison, MO, two sisters, Peggy E. Davis of Clark, MO and Susie L. Cassese and her husband Henry of Newport, RI, beloved Aunt, Lucille Moore of Higbee, MO, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Rev. Ross C. Luntsford and Gerald Allen Luntsford, an Aunt Mildred Bennet, and his first wife Margarete .
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, with Funeral services honoring and celebrating Louis’s life at 12:30 pm. Military Honors and committal payer will take place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Shelter, Jacksonville. Burial will follow.
