Obituary

Lewis William Coffman, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 in Winter Haven Florida.  He was born March 3, 1948 in Trenton, Missouri, the son of Richard Leon & Elizabeth Ethel (Morris) Coffman.

He grew up in Chillicothe, Missouri, graduating from Chillicothe High School in 1966. Lewis married the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Schmidt on June 14, 1969 in Moberly, Missouri.

Lewis was a member of the FFA in High School. He served in the Missouri Army National Guard for four years then moved to Wyoming and served in the Wyoming Army National Guard for four years. While in Wyoming, he helped open UPS Delivery services for the state. He worked in the transportation industry for many years. He worked in the Kansas City area delivering paint and packages before starting his own business, Coffman Trucking, delivering medical supplies across a 10 state area. He retired to Lake of the Ozarks and started working for OATS Transportation. He loved working with people.

Lewis was very active in the Boy Scouts and served as a leader and troop committee chairman of Boy Scout Troop 393 for many years in Mission, Kansas.

Lewis fully retired and moved back to Moberly in 2017 and in 2020 they bought a Snow Bird home in Winter Haven, Florida.  He loved boating and camping with his friends and family.  He is especially proud of his family.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Cheryl Ann Coffman of Moberly; his children, Bryan Coffman and wife, Shirlee of Olathe, KS., Angela (Angie) Wilson and husband, John of Tyler, TX., Richard (Rick) Coffman and wife Malana of Stillwell, KS., David Coffman and wife, Darla of Clay Center, KS.; Grandchildren, Tyler Wolfe and wife Brittany,  Brylie Stupart and husband Chevon, Rose Coffman, James Coffman, Eryn Wilson, Haley Coffman, Elizabeth (Libby) Coffman, Cooper Coffman, Spencer Coffman, Anderson (Andy) Coffman and Miller Coffman; Great Grandson , Micah; numerous nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother in-law Rick Buxton and granddaughter Emily Rose.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis Coffman Memorial Fund in care of the family.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home.  A funeral mass of the resurrection was held the next day at the St. Pius X Catholic Church.  Committal prayer and burial took place in the St. Marys cemetery.
