Leona Tydings

Leona May Tydings, 93, of Columbia, MO formerly of Moberly, MO. went home to rest on Monday, February 22, 2021.  Leona was born June 7, 1927 in Sturgeon, MO to John and Margaret Ginn.

She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church of Moberly.

She married John “Tylo” E. Tydings on September 28. 1947 and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were four children; Charlene, Charles, Susan and Patricia, a brother Robert Ginn, three sisters; Julia Davis, Edith Williams, and Ruby Banks.

Leona is survived by her children; Linda Shipley and her husband Richard of West Palm Beach, FL, and Glenda M Tydings of Columbia, MO, three granddaughters; Lisa Birch of Texas, Shanda Barnett of Bridgewater, MA, and Angela Smith of Sunrise, FL, six grandsons; Tyrone Birch, Thomas Tydings, De’Mon Jackson of Columbia, MO, Matthew Tydings of Moberly, Brodieas Rolley of Columbia, and Terrill Tydings of Moberly, two son in laws; Clarence Jackson and Norman Cropp both of Columbia, one daughter in law Patty Tydings of Moberly, great grands, great great grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She loved spending her time sewing and making cakes for church occasions. Whenever you came to Mom’s she would want to know if you were hungry or wanted something to drink. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Services honoring Leona’s life were held at the Cater Funeral HomeChapel.  Committal prayer and burial followed in the Oakland Cemetery.
