Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Sue Franklin, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend by all those who knew her.  Karen departed from this world on June 29, 2023, from surgery complications leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and joy that will forever remain in our hearts.

Born on November 8, 1947, Karen grew up in Renick, Missouri and graduated from Renick High School.  She had an early career in the banking sector, and devoted her life to raising her family, and had a special love of cooking and baking.  She also enjoyed camping, going to horse shows, and road trips visiting her family and friends. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church. 

Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Markley, her adoptive parents, Elbert and Ruth Stockton, her brother Richard Markley and sisters Shirley Mahan and Sandy Perren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Harold Wayne Franklin, three children Tammy Franklin, Phillip and Kristie Franklin, and Justin Franklin, her two grandchildren, Austin and Anne-Marie Franklin, and Makenna Franklin, and two great-grandchildren Raelynn Franklin and Kipper Franklin. Her sister Jean Jackson and brothers Jimmie Stockton and Ralph Baier. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, Moberly.

Words of support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel; followed by Funeral Services honoring Karen’s life.  Committal services, prayer and burial took place immediately following the funeral services at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Jacksonville, Mo.
