Jerry Lee Sneed, 87, of Moberly, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Moberly Regional Hospital. Jerry was born in Huntsville, Missouri on August 12, 1937, to Guy and Bonnie (Rothwell) Sneed. After graduating from Huntsville High School he entered the workforce with the Wabash Railroad, which eventually became Norfolk Southern Railway, retiring in 1997 after 40 years of service.
In 1969 he married Dora Ann Pearson and she became the love of his life, his travel partner, and in these past few years, his loving caretaker. Jerry was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church where he previously served as an Elder and Trustee. He was an exceptionally kind and caring person who loved nature, animals, and old western movies. He enjoyed reading as well as attending Moberly Greyhound basketball games and watching the Kansas City Chiefs play.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother (Bill Sneed), sister (Sharon White), and nephew (Gary Sneed).
Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, nephew Guy (Karen) Sneed of Excelsior Springs, MO, and numerous extended family members. Although Jerry and Dora had no children, they shared a special bond with two cousins, Joyce Gelina of Columbia, MO and Sandy (Greg) Hodge of Moberly, MO, whom they considered their “adopted daughters”.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Jerry’s memory be made to the Zion Lutheran Church in Moberly.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Zion Lutheran Church followed by Funeral Services honoring and celebrating Jerry’s life. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
