Gary Wayne Winn, 87, of Moberly, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with his wife Vi by his side. He was born to the union of Omar Vaughn and Verlena (Staples) Winn, September 16, 1937, in Moberly.
Gary married Violet Thomas, January 2, 1960, and they had 3 children, John Thomas Winn, Mark Todd Winn and Joni Gail Benn and her husband David, 6 grandchildren, Wendy Gianladis and her husband John, Ryan Benn and his wife Andrea, Amy Benn, Daniel Benn, Mitchell Winn, and Travis Winn, 5 great grandchildren, Tyler Smith, Blake Darwent, Bryce Darwent, Brinkley Benn, and Savannah Benn and one cousin, Donna Sue Schaffer and her children, Doug, Suzanne, Richard, and Clay, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Gary worked as a lineman and dispatcher for Ameren UE. When he retired, he continued working on the family farm with his stepfather Albert Martin. Gary was a Mason at the Milton Masonic lodge #151. Gary was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed doing both with close friends and family. Gary could tell a story like no other and everyone who knew and loved him will miss hearing him tell his stories tremendously. Gary was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Always remembered, never forgotten and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, that was followed by Funeral Services honoring and celebrating Gary’s life. Committal prayer and burial took place in the Oakland Cemetery
