Floyd Earl Riley ,76, passed to his eternal rest, December 26, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born, April 7, 1948, the son of Myron and Birdie Heather (Pohl) Riley in Huntsville, MO. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army where he served as adjutant to a General during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in San Francisco, CA.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rebecca (Spraker) Riley, a brother James and his wife Priscilla Riley, nephews Jeremy Riley, and Christopher Riley, nieces Jill Riley Fischer, Liz McClary and Stephanie Williams, sister in law, Elaine Maupil Riley, friends including Melanie Walker Bownfield whom he considered as a daughter and her children that he considered as grandchildren, Jess (Hannah) Brownfield, Walker Brownfield, and Payton Brownfield. Floyd is also survived by many friends who loved him.including his special friend, Dr. Jerry Kennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John V. Riley, and a niece Jennifer Riley Cox.
Floyd was a member of St. Pius Church and a longtime supporter of the Moberly Greyhounds and the Missouri Tigers.
An entrepreneur, he owned many businesses and employed thousands, both locally and nationwide. His yearly cattle sales would bring many dignitaries and entertainers to the Moberly area. A musician in his own right, he had a band, Floyd Riley and The Earthquakes. His talent and love of music entertained many in church and on stages.
Floyd's generosity knew no bounds. He helped many anonymously. He loved Christmas and would give gifts to children and families in need. He was a big man with a big, kind heart and will be remembered.
Because of Floyd Riley's love for children, memorials made to St. Pius X School would be appreciated.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the St. Pius X Catholic Church and was followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Committal prayer and entombment took place at the Riley Mausoleum in Oakland Cemetery.
