Obituary

Edward Warren Thomas, 80, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 1, 2023. He was born in Mattoon, IL , February 21, 1943 to Russell E. and Doris ( Hinton) Thomas. He was baptized and was a member of General Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL. They moved to Missouri in 1955. Edward graduated from Madison High School in 1961. He married Nance Ann Ware on May 29, 1964.

He is survived by Nancy and their five daughters, Cynthia (Dave) Harkey of Macks Creek, MO, Christina (Bill) Luntsford of Moberly, MO, Rachael Thomas of Roach, MO, Jenni (Tim) Brown of Maryville, TN, and Melinda Roseann Thomas of Moberly, MO; his sisters Sarah Kothe of Salisbury, MO and Rebecca Rogers of Moberly, MO; his grandchildren Clifford Thornburg, George Thornburg, Amanda Bollenbach, David Harkey III, Marissa Harkey, Charles Peeper, Thomas Peeper, Colin Luntsford, Emelia Thomas, Kalei Fujita, Kanoa Fujita, John Brown, and Bennie Brown; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Eddie retired from Westran Public Schools. Among his many passions, he was an avid bird-watcher, model train enthusiast, toy-maker, aviator, collector, and life-long tinkerer. He was the first call for many house-hold emergencies and could make most home repairs with the contents of his truck. He enjoyed camping and traveling. Eddie was a capable handyman, carpenter, plumber, electrician, and painter. Staples in Edward's kitchen included the sweetest iced tea, ice cream, oatmeal cookies, soup, cheese and crackers, Werthers and butterscotch candies. He demanded table manners from anyone who sat at his dinner table. He was a member of the M. Graham Clark S.A.R. and the Missouri Bluebird Society.

A visitation was held in the Cater Funeral Home.  Funeral services honoring Eddie’s life took place the next day in the Cater Funeral Home  Chapel.  Committal prayer and burial followed at the Higbee Cemetery.
