Dorothy Mae Sutton, 92, of Cairo, passed away, Tuesday, August 5, 2025. She was born October 26, 1932, in Piedmont, Mo. to the union of Lisander Eli and Carrie Elizabeth (Clemens) Kiser.
She spent her childhood in Piedmont, Mo., later moving to St, Louis, Mo., where she worked the service desk at Central Hardware. Once she retired, she moved to the Cairo area and has been there for 30 years. She married Vernon Sutton on July 10, 1950, in Clay County, Arkansas and he preceded her in death.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, archery with her husband, and some of her hobbies included sewing and crocheting.
She is survived by her 3 children, Verna Mae Hess and her husband Dick, Linda Kay Burbank and her husband Roger, all of Cairo, and Gary Dale Sutton and his wife Gina, of Brunswick, 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, April 6, 2025, her parents, and 2 brothers, Bobby Kiser and Jerry Kiser.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held, at Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Dorothy’s life. Committal prayer took place at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Shelter, Jacksonville. Burial followed.
