Donna Sue Carney, 83 of Moberly, passed away Thursday July 18, 2024. She was born August 30, 1940 to the union of George and EllaMae Lucille Baker. She was blessed with a loving step-mom, Francis Baker after her mother passed. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donna attended school in Moberly and graduated from Moberly highschool in 1958. After highschool, Donna married her Highschool sweetheart and best friend George Carney on 7/29/1960 and remained united in marriage for 63 years until George's death in 2023.
Until retirement Donna worked as a buyer for Orschelns. Donna was an active member in the Moberly community, she did the books for the Christos center in Moberly and was very involved in helping run the pantry. She was also an Ambassador with the Chamber of Commerce and helped with the welcome wagon in Moberly. Donna also volunteered her time working at the Whitaker home with Autistic/special needs children.
Donna was a devout Christian and loved her church family at the First Baptist Church in Moberly, even when she was no longer able to attend services there, she would watch online each Sunday morning.
Donna is survived by her son Mitch Carney(Melissa) of Kansas City, her grandson , who brought so much joy and light to her world, Andrew Carney of Kansas City. Nieces Kathy Estes(John) of Overland Park, Connie Houf(Gary) of Rolla, Jim Rudkin(Jeanie) of Ashland, Mo. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, sister Betty Rudkin and parents.
Donna's beautiful smile and kindness will be missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, Mo or Russell Jones Education Center in Kansas City Mo.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Donna’s life. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Oakland Cemetery.
