Donald “Don” Hatfield, Sr., 82, of Grandview, Missouri, formerly of the Mexico, Moberly area, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2023.
Don was born July 11, 1940 in Auxvasse, Missouri. He was the youngest of 10 children born to the late John and Laura May (Bugg) Hatfield. Don grew up in Mexico, Missouri and graduated from the Rennick School District. He began his working career by working for his older brother as a gas station attendant and finished it after working for 25 years for Andy’s Foundation Company as a supervisor of the footing crew. After retiring Don enjoyed building and racing dune buggies and his beloved slingshot dragster “Boot Scootin”. He belonged to the Hatfield Racing Team with his sons Tony and Rick, brother Bill Hatfield and nephews Timmie and Terry Hatfield. This was definitely his favorite pastime.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Jessie Jo (Kirgan) Hatfield; son Rick Hatfield; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Don is survived by his sons Donald Hatfield, Jr. of Archie, MO, Paul “Tony” (Patti) Hatfield of Pleasant Hill, MO; and daughter Sally (Bill) King of Belton, MO. Don had 19 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Richard Hatfield of Centralia, MO and sister Evelyn Hatfield Jones of Wentzville, MO.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services honoring Donald’s life. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Memorial Park Cemetery.
