David Linn “Shaggy” Magers, 66, of Moberly, Missouri passed away, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his home. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for 2 ½ years.
David was born, November 22, 1958, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Olin “Don” and Anna (Almond) Magers. On April 11, 2007, in Moberly, Missouri he was united in marriage to Debbie Milnes who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a daughter Sarah (Jordan) Magers of La Plata, Missouri, a step-son Osroe Atterberry (Katie) of Moberly, Missouri, two sisters Donna Cook of La Plata, Missouri, Deanna (Bob) Turner of Macon, Missouri, a brother Danny (Nikie) Magers of Macon, Missouri, three grandchildren Cameron (Tristan) Benson, Kinsley Benson, and Easton Shafer, Mother-in-law Joan Milnes, two sisters-in-law Kristi Chase and Michelle Chapman, a brother-in-law Jerry (Joyce) Milnes, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law John Milnes, 3 brothers-in-law Gary Matteson, Johnny Milnes, and Rob Chase.
David drove a truck most of his life. He drove for Orscheln Farm & Home for several years until his medical retirement. His wife says his Orscheln truck, 5157, was the first love of his life. He loved farming, camping, and spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He also enjoyed going to Midwest Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Memorials in memory of David may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Words of comfort and support may be shared with the family at a visitation to be held Friday, May 2, 2025, 1-3 pm, at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services honoring and celebrating Shaggy’s life will follow at 3 pm. Committal prayer and burial will take place at Oakland Cemetery.
