David "Dave" A. Foos, of Moberly, passed away peacefully with loved ones around, Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, respected veteran, hobbyist, and generous member of his community. Dave was born June 20, 1961, in Moberly, Missouri.
He graduated from Moberly High School in 1979. Dave joined the Air Force after graduation. In 1983 he became a conductor at Amtrak, which he worked until retirement in 2020. His time in the service reflected the same sense of duty and strength of character that defined the rest of his life.
On April 20, 2015, Dave married the love of his life, Valerie Foos, of Moberly, Missouri. Their marriage was one of deep partnership, shared adventure, and unwavering support for one another through every season of life.
Dave's work ethic began early. While in high school, he held jobs including working at TG&Y & Art's Appliance. After returning home from the service in 1983, Dave worked for Orscheln's.
What Dave valued most were the relationships he built along the way. Family and lifelong friends were special to him. He especially enjoyed his career with Amtrak and spending time with family, especially time with his granddaughter DJ.
Outside of work, Dave embraced life with hobbies. He especially enjoyed his time at a 3D printer. Dave was a Star Wars enthusiast. He further enjoyed his time at home with Valerie.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Valerie; sons, Daniel (Hanna) Jones, Nicholas Jones; daughter, Michelle Foos; sons, Matthew Foos and Chris Foos; daughter, Morgan Foos; father, Ivan Foos; siblings, Terri Lucas, Lisa (Randy) Edwards, Brenda (John) Avery; grandchild Doris (DJ) Jones; and many other cherished family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Foos.
Dave will be remembered for his generosity, steady character, and love of family.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home followed by funeral services and Military Honors honoring David’s life at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery Shelter, Jacksonville. Committal prayer and burial followed.
