Obituary

David Earl Campbell, 91, of Cairo MO, passed away, May 8, 2026, surrounded by his family. David was born, February 6, 1935, in Lowry City, MO to Archie and Verdie (Underwood) Campbell. David grew up in Chillicothe, MO.  He attended Central Methodist University where he met his wife, Joyce Ann Cooper. They married, May 31, 1959 and went on to have three children; Davina Ann, Jared Robert, and Devin Andrew. 

After serving in the National Guard for 8 years, he was honorably discharged. David worked as a loan officer at Commerce Bank in Moberly for many years. After leaving the bank he went on to work at Moberly Correctional where he retired in 2003 after 14 years. David was a member of Moberly and Cairo/Jacksonville Lions Clubs and Randolph Historical Society. He enjoyed spending time outside on the farm and watching his grandkids and great grandkids grow.

David is survived by his wife, Joyce, of 66 years. His daughter Davina Creed (Robert), sons Jared (Ersillia), and Devin (William). His grandkids; David, Jessica (Mark), Shelby, Elizabeth (Brad). His step-grandkids Brandon, Anthony, Frankie, Lisa, and Maria. And his great grandkids; Kelsey, Kristiana, and Casen. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, step-mother Grace, brother Richard, brother-in-law Marion, and sisters-in-law Yvonne and Jean.

David will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cairo/Jacksonville Lions Club in memory of David.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home.  A funeral service and military honors honoring Mr. Campbells life took place, graveside at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Fayette, Missouri. Committal prayer and burial followed.
