Darold Ames

Darold Sam Ames, 71, of Moberly MO, passed away on February 11, 2021 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born November 21, 1949 to Sam and Letha Ames in Moberly, MO.

Darold was married to Connie J. Ames (Gillispie) on June 21, 1969 in Moberly, MO. They fostered over 150 foster kids. They adopted six children; two daughters; Tammy R. Ames of Fayette, Jeanette L. Payne of Huntsville and four sons; Phillip D. Ames of Moberly, Dustin E. Ames & his wife (Alivia) of Cairo, Patrick R. Ames of the state of Oklahoma, and David L. Ames of Fort Drum, NY. Grandfather to numerous grandkids, and Uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and siblings Harold and Gerald Ames.

In their younger years, Darold and Connie worked at SkateLand in Moberly. When he was younger, Darold was an avid roller skater. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball. His favorite team was the Yankees. He worked for the Moberly Public School System prior to retiring, and was head of security at the DuPont before that. He has also been a member of the Freemasons, since he was 21. 

A Memorial service honoring Darold’s life was held.
