Obituary

Connie Howell Taylor, 80, of Columbia, formerly of Moberly passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at her home in Columbia, MO, after a long illness. Connie was born April 6, 1942 in Moberly, MO, to the union of Elwood and Ruth (Haden) Howell. She was a graduate of Moberly High School and went on to work for the Social Security Administration for over three decades, before retiring in 1998.

Connie loved spending time with her family and friends and maintained close relationships with all of them throughout her life. Over the years she was active in planning high school reunions, as well as helping organize a community kitchen in Moberly. Connie loved to travel, and made the most of her retirement by going on cruises or flying to various destinations in the U.S. and Europe. She loved crime shows/movies, old western films, and occasionally going to the casino. She was also a voracious reader and was seldom to be seen without a book or her kindle by her side. She was an exceptionally kind and caring person and is missed, but remembered fondly, by all who knew her.

Connie is survived by her three children through her marriage to Larry Taylor: Tod (Rita) Taylor, Cara Souder, and Kelly (Jeff)  McCully; eight grandchildren: Steven Myers, Jennifer Myers, Nic Myers, John Pearson, Dennis Pearson, Kenny Allen Souder, Carey Souder, and Carly Souder; 6 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, Wes Myers, and great-grandson, Abel Myers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, with a service celebrating and honoring Connie’s life that followed.  Committal prayer and burial  took place at the Oakland Cemetery.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
