Obituary

Clifford Eugene “Shorty” Miller, 84, of Moberly, died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his home.  He was being born March 8, 1934, in South Gifford, MO, to Roscoe and Gladys Berniece (Sappington) Miller.

Clifford served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict; receiving an honorable discharge.  He graduated  in 1962 with a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Missouri – Rolla, and  retired as Resident Engineer for the North Central District #2 for MoDot. 

He was a member of the Randolph County Saddle Club and the Gifford Christian Church. 

Clifford married Donna Young on August 30, 1959 in Kirksville and she survives.  Also surviving are his daughters, Tammy Jo Wages and husband Phil of Auburn, GA, Penny Sue Hicks and husband Randy of Cairo, Terry Lynn Kirtley and husband David of Centralia; eight grandchildren, Molly Jaecques and husband Eric, Shelby Hicks, Haley McBeth, Cody Wages, Callie Wages, Ashton Kirtley, Dawson Kirtley, Annika Kirtley; four great grandchildren, Avery, Elly, Carson, and Rhett; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He enjoyed horses, rodeos, trail riding, and was a volunteer announcer for many horse shows.  He loved St. Louis Cardinal baseball and loved to tell stories.

Memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.

Services honoring and celebrating Clifford’s life were held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel.  Committal prayers, military honors, and burial followed in Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery.
