Carolyn M. Funk “Carol” Hitt, 79, of Moberly, Missouri, died Monday, September 12, 2022. She was born July 23, 1943 in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Dorothy (Dunkle) and Ronald Bogle. On April 4, 1964 she married Kenneth W. “Tony” Hitt who preceded her in death in 2016.
In the 1970s and 80s Carol worked as the assistant to Temple J. Stephens at Temple Stephens Company in Moberly and Columbia. Carol operated Hitt Companies, a warehouse and distribution facility, in the 90s. Prior to retirement she managed The Crossroads Plantation Inn also in Moberly.
She is survived by her children, Anthony W. Hitt and his husband Shawn Scott of New York, NY and Kelly Patrick and her husband Kevin of Cairo, three grandsons, Adam Patrick of St. Louis, Kyle Patrick and his wife Stephanie Clookey of Columbia, Tyler Patrick and his wife Halli of Huntsville, two great-grandchildren, Conner and Carter Patrick, a foster daughter Dee Calvert and her husband Danny, two foster grandchildren, Daphne and Drew Calvert all of Moberly, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation, that was held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services honoring and celebrating Carol’s life followed. Committal prayer and burial took place at the Oakland Cemetery.
