Byron Glen “Barry” McKenzie, 74, of Moberly, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born April 26, 1947 in Piggott, AR to James and Mary (Ward) McKenzie.
He married Cynda, May 8, 2010 and she survives of the home. Also surviving are his children; Tracy “Pepper” Parker of Sacramento, CA, Bari “BJ” Lane Thompson and her husband James of Moberly, Krysta Classens and her husband Tim of Columbia, and Kara LaVoy of Moberly, seven grandchildren; Corbin, Brodey, Marley, Paisley, Saylor, Atley and Carter, siblings; Don McKenzie and his wife Nancy, and Jackie Sullinger and her husband Bob, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including Jo Carolyn and Jim Shipman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Amberly Re’Shea, and a sister Bonita Walker.
Barry attended high school at Greenway, later graduating college with a Broadcasting Degree and had DJ’d at the KBOA Radio Station, Kennett, MO. He was an Arkansas state game warden for ten years and later was a Missouri state water patrolman for 18 years. Barry was a trained snipper and a master diver.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to present a donation in Barry’s name to an event very close to his heart, Trustee’s Cycle Shop Toy Run on Sunday October 31, 2021. This year would have been his second decade of riding in this honorable event. If you would like to donate, checks c/o of Cynda McKenzie would be appreciated.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family during a visitation that preceded Services honoring and celebrating Barry’s life at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Private committal prayer and burial will take place at a later date in Arkansas.
