Obituary

Burnis Myrl Riley, 80, of Moberly went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 21, 2022.  He was born August 23, 1941 to the union of the late Leroy and Mamie (Osborn) Riley. June 9th, 1962, Burnis married the love of his life, Betty Riley.  He enjoyed the friendships that he had made working at AB Chance and Moberly Correctional Center from which he retired.

Burnis enjoyed square dancing with his family and friends before his health stopped him.  Some of his other hobbies included spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He spent many years with his wife raising multiple foster children who he held dear to his heart.  Burnis took great pride in his faith and church family at Logan Street Church of Christ.  He loved wood working and working in the hay fields.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Betty, daughter Brenda, his parents, a grandson Hunter, brothers Henry, Alvin, Leon and also several nieces and nephews.

Burnis is survived by children, James Riley of Moberly, Jo and Wayne Bridgewater of Moberly, Jesse and Amber Riley of Chamois,  grandchildren Tiffany and Jon Marsh of Moberly,  Brittany Riley of St. Louis, Jaden Koch, Nevaeh Bridgewater, Aaliyah Bridgewater and Eli Bridgewater all of Moberly, Alexis, Natalie and Kyleigh Riley all of Chamois,  great grandchildren Jason Marsh, William Marsh, Elizabeth Marsh of Moberly and Jirayia Fellows of St. Louis, a sister Elsie Campbell, 2 brothers Norman and Carald Riley, other family members and friends.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home. Funeral services honoring and celebrating Burnis’s life were held in the Cater Funeral Home Chapel. Committal prayer and burial followed at the Oakland Cemetery.
