Obituary

BETTY JO TALLMAN

Betty Tallman age 85, died unexpectedly, March 11th 2023 at her home residence, Moberly.

She was born July 25th 1938 at Cass, Arkansaw.  Betty was the daughter of Clarence and Pearl Kelly/Kilgore residences of Moberly, Mo. The Kilgore family had 5 siblings:  Christine, Ken, Terry, Betty, and Jerry Kilgore.

Betty Tallman was one of the very…very best mom’s you could ever have known!

Betty Tallman was a House Wife & Care Taker of 3 kids that were aprox 1 year apart in age.  Betty was dedicated to her children with so much love and responsibility on her hands to manage by herself.  Grocery shopping, doctor appointments, dentist appointments, school events, school sport events, and summer camps.  She always supported taking all 3 kids to their 4-H meetings, 4-H project meetings and to the local 4-H Huntsville Fair every year to competition events for blue, red, or white ribbons for their projects. Betty became a 4-H leader for several years holding a sewing class for girls of all ages.  Oldest daughter Debbie took local Huntsville and Missouri State Fair.  She active top blue ribbon of Missouri State on her sewing 4 years out of 6 years. Daughter Debbie got to model her dress with in her first year in 4-H at the age of 12 years old at the State Fair in Jefferson City, Mo.  Debbie was so grateful to have a mother to teach her these very important life skills.  Betty was also a good cook. All 3 kids would sing her a song.  “Hay Good Looking …What You Got Cooking …How About Cooking Something Up for Me” Kids love doing this for her.  Betty just loved it and was tickled pink.  There wasn’t a day that went by that she made sure her kids had all their needs met.  Betty raised her kids in Clifton Hill, Mo on a farm.  She had no time or took no time for herself and was completely dedicated to raising her children. Betty was such a hard worker; she planted a garden every year for the family food budget to keep cost down.  Father: Bob Tallman was gone most of the time doing other things, at work or out of town as a crane operator.  Betty took a job at a clothing factory in Salisbury, Mo. and worked there for several years.  Debbie was 12 yrs. old and took the responsibly of watching her two brothers Keith and Randy until Betty arrived home after school. Betty Tallman saved her money up to put a down payment on some property in Huntsville, Mo. right on Hwy 24.  This property had a running Mobile gas station, garage along with back acreage that was upgraded into a trailer park.  Family moved from Clifton Hill, into this new trailer park called Tallman’s Trailer Park …when it completed.  This property was connected to Westran High School property line.  All 3 kids were able to walk to the high school and enjoy lots of school events, sports events going on all the time.  Parents’ divorce in 1975.  Betty moved into Riley’s trailer park, then eventually to Moberly, Mo. where she lived her life out. Debra moved out of state in 1980 and Keith and Randy Tallman her 2 sons helped her out with her needs.
