Obituary

Betty Joan (Reynolds) Sander, 82, of Cairo, Mo., passed away, April 4, 2023.  She was deeply devoted to her faith, family, and friends.

Betty was born, October 15, 1940, to her parents Bud and Elizabeth (Vanskike) Reynolds in Cairo, Mo. She was the oldest of their three children (Betty, Truman, and Judy). She had an innate ability to love and nurture that would span her entire life to include her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Anthony “Tony” Sander and Betty were united in marriage at St. Pius X Church in Moberly on November 7, 1959. They celebrated 49 years of marriage. The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to them both. Whether it was cruising on the boat at Holiday Acres, a weenie roast with the grandkids, playing cards with friends, travelling, planting flowers at her home and cheering on family at numerous sporting events. Her life was full of precious moments even more special when spent with family.

They welcomed five children: Mark (Dana) Sander, Sara (David) Foster, Nancy (Scott) Goins, Scott Sander, Julie Taylor (Roby Boots). She had 15 grandchildren, and 21 great children.

She enjoyed working at White’s Carpet, the Surgery Center in Moberly and volunteering at MRMC. She cherished the time she spent with her girlfriends in the Red Hat Society. She was a long-time member of St. Pius X Church and dedicated her time and energy to doing volunteer work for the parish.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her younger sister Judy, her husband Tony and their two sons, Mark, and Scott.

Love is not built by brick and mortar and memories are not kept alive by possessions. Betty’s greatest joy was her family, and she loved every single one of them deeply. The many years of love, laughter and memories made in Tony and Betty’s home will live on in our hearts forever.

In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests a donation to St. Pius X Church.

Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation that was held at the Cater Funeral Home.  A  Funeral Mass of the Resurrection was held at St Pius X Catholic Church.   A Private committal prayer and burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
