Barbara Barrow, 86, of Moberly went to live with her Heavenly Father on July 25, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was the third of five children born to Homer and Mary (Rhodes) Shannon in St. Genevieve, Missouri. She graduated from Flat River High School in 1957. It was then she met the love of her life Chelmer Barrow. He was working as a lab technician and performed a routine blood draw on her. The rest, as they say, is history.
They married February 22,1958 and moved to Moberly in 1966. Barbara was a devoted wife to Chelmer and mother to Chuck and Diana, who were her pride and joy. In 1977 she began working with Chelmer, running their own business together for many years.
She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for fifty years. She loved music and playing the piano. She always looked forward to her bridge groups, church groups and volunteering. More than anything she enjoyed just being with her family and friends. Her favorite places to be were Holiday Acres Lake and Clearwater Beach, Florida, where she spent many wonderful days with those she loved.
Of all of her accomplishments she was most proud of her title of “Grammy”.
Barbara is survived by her children, Dr. Chelmer L. "Chuck" Barrow, Jr. ( Jackie) and Diana Olson (Eric) ; her grandchildren, Trey Barrow ( Anna) , Ryan Olson (Jessica), Aaron Olson (Erin), Grace Olson and five great grandsons.
We would also like to recognize Barbara's caregivers at Lenoir Woods. We are grateful for their loving care and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's honor to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Moberly or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Words of comfort and support were shared with the family at a visitation held at the Cater Funeral Home Chapel, followed by funeral services honoring and celebrating Mrs. Barrow's life. Committal prayer and entombment took place at the Good Shepherd Mausaleum, Oakland Cemetery.
